Plants to save!

When working in woodsy parks or other areas in the valley removing English Ivy, you may encounter some shrubs and plants that are native, and which we want to save.  It is more time consuming to work around native plants when removing ivy, but those plants are the keepers!

Here are some photos of a few common native plants in Salem...all photos courtesy of The Wild Garden  --- Hansen's Northwest Native Plant Database --- which is extensive and includes  native plant photos and information.

Tall Oregon Grape

Osoberry (Indian Plum)

Western Trillium

Sword Fern

Snowberry

Sessile Trillium
